Federal departments
Switzerland uses the word "Department" for its ministies. While many countries have 20 to 30 ministries and departments, Switzerland has just 7 federal departments, each headed by a federal councillor.
Attached to the departments are the federal offices and other adminstrative units. The Federal Chancellery is the staff office of the Federal Council.
