Simone Niggli-Luder (born 9th January 1978) is the world's leading female orienteering athlete. She won four gold medals in the 2005 World Orienteering championship and two in the 2006 and 2007 championships.

Since 2001 she has won 14 gold medals at world championships and four in the last two European championships (2004 and 2006).

In a sport dominated by the Scandinavian countries, Niggli-Luder has headed the world rankings since 2002.

She has twice been voted Swiss Woman Athlete of the Year, in 2003 and 2005.

By profession Niggli-Luder is a biologist, with a degree from Bern university. She is an ambassador for BioVision, an organisation promoting sustainable development in Africa using ecological techniques and organic methods of pest control.

She is also an ambassador for the organisation Right to Play, which uses sport and play to help children in the most disadvantaged areas of the world.
