EURO 2008

All eyes are on the ball! The European football championship, which is the third largest sports event in the world, will take place in Switzerland and Austria from 7 to 29 June 2008. This is only the second major football event that Switzerland has hosted since the world championship in 1954. Not surprisingly the matches that will be played at home in Bern, Basel, Geneva and Zurich are keenly anticipated. 16 European football nations will compete for the title. This also includes the Swiss national team, which did not have to compete in the series of qualifying stages, this being the privilege of the host country.
