Classical music

Until the 17th century, the only real musical tradition was church music - a choral tradition developed later, around festivals such as the Fête des Vignerons (Winegrowers Festival) in the mid-19th century. And symphony orchestras were founded in various cities at the start of the 20th century.

Annual classical music festival highlights include the Easter and summer concerts at the Lucerne Culture and Convention Centre, the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad and Snow and Symphony in the resort of St Moritz.
